Terms
Terms and Conditions
Last updated 27 September 2026
These terms apply when you book or play a Hidden Thread game. By booking, you agree to them on behalf of everyone in your group, so please pass them on, along with the safety notes at the end.
1. Who we are
Hidden Thread is a trading name of Boundless Immersive Pty Ltd, Western Australia. Contact: hello@playhiddenthread.com.
2. Your booking
- The person who books (the host) must be 18 or over and is responsible for their group.
- A booking is for one game, one date and start time, and a set number of teams. Each team is 2 to 5 people.
- With more than one team, teams set off a few minutes apart, as shown when you book.
- Your booking is confirmed when you see the Booked screen. We'll also email you.
- Bookings close 2 hours before the start time.
3. Invite and promo codes
Codes are for the game and dates they were issued for. A code can't be exchanged for cash, and we can withdraw a code that is being misused.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are in Australian dollars and are shown before you confirm. Where payment is due, you pay in full when you book, through our payment provider.
5. Your host link
When you book, you get a host link. It's how you run the game: share the join link with your group, name your teams and see the standings. Anyone with your host link can change or cancel your booking, so keep it to yourself and share the join link instead. If you lose it, use Find my booking and we'll email you a new one.
6. Changing or cancelling your booking
- Up to 24 hours before your start, you can cancel for a full refund, or change the time or number of teams from your host page.
- Within 24 hours of your start, you can still move to another time, but not cancel for a refund.
- Once any team in your booking has started, the booking is locked and can't be moved, cancelled or refunded.
- If you don't turn up, the booking is not refunded.
Nothing in this section affects your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
7. If we need to change or cancel
We play in most weather. If conditions are unsafe, for example extreme heat, storms or high winds, or something outside our control affects the route, we may move or cancel your game. We'll contact you as early as we can and offer another time or a full refund, whichever you prefer.
Our games use public places we don't control. If a feature is closed, blocked or changed on the day, we may adjust the route or a Lead so your game still works.
8. On the day
- Meet at the meeting point shown in your booking about 10 minutes before your start.
- Each team has a fixed playing window (shown when you book) from the moment it starts. If you start late, you have less time, not more.
- Hints take time off your clock, as explained in the game.
- Where several teams play together, results stay sealed until every team has finished or run out of time, then they're revealed together. Our game's record of times and answers is final.
9. Playing safely and considerately
Our games take place on public streets, paths and spaces that are open to everyone and are not closed off for you. You are responsible for your own safety and your group's, and for how your group behaves.
- Follow the safety notes below and the road rules.
- Children must be supervised by an adult in their team at all times. Under-16s may only play with an adult in their team.
- Don't enter private property, climb on or move anything, or touch artworks or memorials. Every answer can be found from a public path.
- Be considerate of other people using the same spaces.
- Don't play under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
If we become aware that a team is putting people or places at risk, we may end their game without a refund.
10. Health and fitness
Games are played on foot and involve walking, standing and some backtracking. The game page shows the approximate distance and time. If you have any concerns about whether a game suits you or someone in your group, contact us before booking.
11. Phones and the game
Games run in your phone's web browser. You'll need at least one charged phone per team with a data connection. You're responsible for your own devices, data use and battery. If our system fails and stops you playing, we'll offer another time or a full refund.
12. Keep the case to yourselves
The stories, puzzles, clues and answers are our work and remain our property. Please don't publish answers, routes, clue locations or the ending, in reviews, on social media or anywhere else. Talking about how much fun you had is very welcome.
13. Our responsibility to you
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, and nothing in these terms limits those rights.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:
- we are not responsible for injury, loss or damage caused by the conditions of public places, the actions of other people, your own actions or your group's, or events outside our reasonable control;
- we are not responsible for loss or damage to phones or other belongings;
- if we are responsible for a loss, our liability is limited to the price you paid for the booking, or to supplying the service again.
14. Feedback
If you send us feedback, we may use it to improve our games. We won't publish your name with it without asking you.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your booking is the one published when you booked.
16. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Western Australia, and the courts of Western Australia have jurisdiction.
Safety notes
Please read these and share them with everyone in your group before you play.
- Roads and paths. Stay on footpaths. Cross roads at crossings or where it is safe. Keep your eyes up when you're moving, not on your phone.
- Water. Keep well back from the water's edge, jetties and sea walls. Never climb or lean over a barrier.
- Nothing to climb. Every answer can be seen from a public path. If you think you need to climb, reach or go somewhere private, you're looking in the wrong place.
- Sun and heat. Bring water, a hat and sunscreen. In hot weather, take shade breaks. Your clock doesn't matter more than your group.
- Weather. If a storm comes in, stop and shelter. Contact us and we'll sort out another time.
- Children. Keep children with an adult at all times, especially near roads and water.
- Stay together. Agree a place to regroup if anyone gets separated, and make sure someone in each team has a charged phone.
- Emergencies. Call 000. Your safety comes before the game.
